This section explains our role in dealing with complaints, including how you can make a complaint and what happens when we receive a complaint.
Complaints about registrants are known as ‘fitness to practise’ complaints. These are allegations about optometrists and dispensing opticians, including students, and companies which are registered as bodies corporate.
We take action if a registrant’s fitness to practise may be impaired due to poor health, conduct or performance. We cannot take action on consumer issues such as poor service, refunds or compensation.
See how to make a complaint for more information about who deals with different types of complaint.
